On June 17, 2026, BIFOLD invites participants to the “07/2026 BIFOLD Colloquium” in Berlin. As part of its regular colloquium series, the event provides insights into current research topics in data management and system architecture.

The talk focuses on the role of data streaming in modern architecture and system design, particularly in the context of heterogeneous systems. It highlights how streaming approaches differ from traditional batch processing models and their importance for handling sensor data, time series, and continuous data flows. In addition, the session presents recent developments in hardware-accelerated systems and emerging infrastructure approaches, ranging from operating systems and network stacks to communication architectures.

The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Gustavo Alonso (ETH Zurich), a leading expert in data management, cloud architectures, and systems research. The event is aimed at researchers, students, and professionals interested in modern data processing systems and their application in distributed and heterogeneous environments.
